Vladimir Putin Shuffles Russia's Western Military District Command After Retreats In Ukraine War

The commander of Russia’s Western Military District (WMD) has been sacked amid Ukraine’s battlefield gains in the east and south. WMD units have been largely operating in northeastern Kharkiv Oblast over the last few months “but without a clear commander”. Colonel-General Alexander Zhuravlyov is the latest top Russian official to be fired over military debacles in the Ukraine war.
