Russian army’s 80th SMRB is reportedly fighting for its life in an environment it never planned for. The battalion has been deployed in southern Ukraine’s breadbasket around the port of Kherson. The 80th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade is based in the Arctic region near Russia’s border with Finland. However, a broken mobilisation system has compelled Putin to make do with whatever forces he could draw from the existing reserves.
