His non-profit organization, Big Green, builds permanent, outdoor Learning Garden classrooms in hundreds of underserved schools across America reaching over 350,000 students every day. His tech-enabled, urban farming company, Square Roots, grows hyper-local, real food—year-round—while empowering the next generation of farmers.
Bill Tai is an Angel Investor; Partner Emeritus CRV; and Co-Founder, Extreme Tech Challenge. He has been funding start-ups as a Venture Capitalist since 1991 and has had 23 of his start-ups become listed companies. To name a few, Bill has backed Canva, Color Genomics, Dapper Labs, Safety Culture, Tweetdeck/Twitter, Wish.com and Zoom Video; He is co-founder of ACTAI Global, a community of Athletes Conservationists Technologists Artists & Innovators supporting environmental conservation and economic empowerment via entrepreneurship. He has served on the World Economic Forum's Technology Pioneer Committee and is an Adjunct Professor of Innovation at Curtin University in Perth, Australia.
Nicole Shanahan is an attorney in California and a research fellow at CodeX, the Stanford Center of Legal Informatics. She is a California based attorney and the founder and president of ClearAcessIP, an automated patent management and valuation platform, and a legal technologist who specializes in the legal applications of neural networks, structured databases, APIs, UI/UX, automation and SaaS; and Bia-Echo Foundation, a private foundation that aims to invest in change makers at the forefront of innovation who are tackling some of the world’s greatest challenges. This event will also feature start-ups from the Extreme Tech Challenge: FoodLocker (Nigeria), Sophie’s BioNutrients (Singapore) and Beewise (Israel).
