What If We Turned On Voyager 1’s Camera?

Voyager 1 has been in space for over 40 years making it the furthest man made object. Despite this, the Voyager 1 cameras were turned off in 1990 leaving Voyager 1 completely blind. But why were they turned off in the first place and what would Voyager see if they were turned back on?
