A top Russian unit has retreated from the Kharkiv region amid Ukraine’s counter offensive. On September 13, UK’s defense ministry said that the Russian forces that withdrew belonged to the 1st Guards Tank Army (1 GTA). UK’s defense ministry also noted that the 1 GTA suffered heavy casualties in the initial phase of Putin's invasion. The ministry also said that 1 GTA had not fully reconstituted before the Ukrainian counteroffensive in Kharkiv.
