Soldiers in Transdniestria in danger, Russia warns Moldova

Russia said it was ready to go to war against Moldova if anything happened to Russian troops in Transdestria. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned Moldova that threatening the security of Russian troops in the breakaway region of Transdniestria risked triggering a military confrontation with Moscow. Russia has stationed peacekeepers in Transdniestria since the early 1990s, when armed conflict saw pro-Russian separatists wrest large swathes of territory from Moldovan control.
