Taxi driver and father of four, Ivan Skyba, was one of a group of Ukrainian men defending their suburban street near Kyiv at the start of the war. He narrowly avoided death after being captured with his comrades by Russian soldiers as they advanced on Ukraine’s capital. Along with eight of his fellow captives he was led to a courtyard where Russian soldiers opened fire in a cold-blooded execution. The other eight men were shot dead in an atrocity that prosecutors are treating as a war crime.
